Yes, we recommend packing a converter! Brazil has two associated plug types: C (two round pins) and N (three round pins). It operates on a 127/220V supply voltage at 60Hz.

Is Rio de Janeiro safe?

Like any major city, Rio de Janeiro has areas with varying levels of safety. To avoid pickpocketing and scams, stay aware of your surroundings and be street-smart when navigating crowded, tourist-heavy areas.

We recommend avoiding overly flashy clothing or jewelry and keeping your phone and other valuables in your pockets. At night, avoid walking alone or in deserted areas, and use Uber to get to your destination, especially after a night of good food and drinks.

By following these tips, you can focus on soaking up the vibrant culture, indulging in delicious food, and creating unforgettable memories in this beautiful city.

How do I get around in Rio?

We recommend using reputable transportation services, such as Uber, when traveling around the city instead of hailing taxis on the street. Many of the hotels you will be staying at also have reputable car service companies you can use and pre-book for private transportation.
